Unplug? Yes, really.

Our September Challenge:
Tech Boundaries

We hear it all the time: Unplugging from technology is key to wellbeing.

But in school PR, drawing healthy boundaries around tech use can be tricky. After all, you're responsible for a lot of critical work that, and crisis events don't always fit themselves into office hours.

Not to mention, social media management can seep into every corner of every device you're on. It's time to take control.

This month, we're challenging you to adopt ONE technology boundary. Just one! We know that small changes matter, especially with technology. A few ideas:

  • Set your phone's Do Not Disturb settings to protect your sleep each night.

  • Talk with your boss and team about limiting after-hours email use and making text/phone the norm in an emergency.

  • Limit your access to social media apps in the early morning and/or evening.

  • If you use an iPhone, make Screen Time settings work for you.

  • Use your TV to watch movies and shows — and put your phone in the next room while you watch!

  • In your phone's notification settings, turn off as many notifications as possible. Kristin only allows a buzz or beep for SMS text messages and voice calls. Try it for a week!

And be sure to log your completed challenge! This month you'll be entered to win an awesome 1TB portable hard drive from our generous friends at Smore!

Sub Plan, Activate!

As part of our monthly challenges to celebrate five years of K12prWell, we'll be reminding you to finally make that Emergency Sub Plan you've (mayyyybe) been putting off.

Find one hour to customize our template for your role and district. And definitely let us know when your plan is done — whether it was just today or many moons ago!

"You guys....this has been on my list FOR YEARS! Thank you so much for the easy-to-use template and the nudge to *just do it.* I can breathe a sigh of relief that it's done!"
